Why Unau

Your attention belongs to you.

Within reach when needed, out of the way when done. Features may grow; this promise stays.

Finding the same window all over again

Give windows a familiar place.

Existing cards keep their order, and new windows appear at the end. You choose the order within collections. During the current app session, each collection and display filter also remembers where you were browsing.

Unau keeps positions stable. If you prefer the most recently used window first, this is a different trade-off.

Returning to work, then rearranging everything

Find the window. Get back to work.

Switch across displays without changing window sizes or positions. Grouping related windows only changes the entries shown on the shelf.

Unau finds and switches to windows. It doesn’t launch closed apps, tile windows, or restore a desktop layout.

Recognizing windows, with previews on your terms

Choose how much you see.

You can switch by icon and title without Screen Recording permission. Enable previews when you want to see more; pause to inspect a window, then choose when to switch.

Accessibility permission is still required. Previews stay on your Mac; you switch only when you choose the window.
Unau’s sloth gently holding a branch

Why a sloth?

Unau is a common English name for a two-toed sloth. Its unhurried hanging posture inspired us: keep what you need close, and save your energy for what matters.

The branch becomes the window shelf. A steady hold becomes a position you can remember. A gentle face suggests less pressure. What the icon expresses should also be felt in use.

Name definition ↗

Quiet, with a clear state.

Common tools have a visible entry, and running tasks can be checked at any time. Decorations stay still, without repeated notification nudges.

Unobtrusive, even when a task ends.

Keep Awake can end on a timer; cleaning restores input when finished. Simple tasks stay close at hand, and your original settings remain yours.

Restraint starts with what we leave out.

A new feature should answer: which search, wait or accidental action does it save? How many controls and permissions does it add? If it only lengthens the feature list, it can wait.
